Knowing the latest news of 2022 for Microsoft Teams
Welcome to the Aleson ITC’s Blog, the best SQL Server blog and updates for Microsoft Teams, our favorite collaboration and communication tool.
In today’s post and since we are about to end the year, I will tell you what are the latest news that Microsoft has decided to launch before the end of 2022. And it is that, in these months, with the Ignite event, they have triggered the updates of this platform. I will tell you the most relevant ones and the ones that will help you improve the daily use of Microsoft Teams.
¡Let’s go!
Choose your seat in Together meeting mode
Together mode makes meeting participants feel more like they’re in the same room during virtual meetings. With this latest innovation, meeting organizers and presenters will now be able to assign seats to participants this way.
Suggested answers in group chat
From now on, instead of spending time typing a routine reply to an incoming message, we can simply reply with a single click by choosing one of the suggested replies for our group chats. Suggested replies use machine learning to generate the most relevant replies in a conversation.
Videoclip
Now we can create small video clips in our chats that allow us to express ourselves more easily and faster without having to make a Teams call.
Its operation is very simple. We will simply click the record button and send the video. The recipient of the video clip can easily reply with a chat message or a video clip of their own. This new functionality is available on the desktop app and will be in public preview on mobile devices next year.
Teams Shared Channels
Finally, one of the most anticipated features has arrived, the shared channels in Microsoft Teams. From now on, we can directly share a Teams channel with users who are not part of the specific team.
This feature is being rolled out progressively to all tenants.
Currently, only team owners can create a shared channel. The ability to create shared channels can be managed at the organization level.
The user who creates a shared channel becomes the owner of that channel, and only the owner can directly add or remove people. A shared channel owner can add any user in the organization to a shared channel that they’ve created. Members of a shared channel have a secure chat space, and if new members are added, they can see all conversations (even old ones) in the shared channel.
Schedule sending chats
Similar to delaying email delivery in Outlook, we can now manually select the future date and time that we want a chat message to be delivered. Simply right-clicking on the Send button to schedule the shipment. Also, if this is outside of the recipient’s working hours, they will automatically receive scheduled shipping suggestions from Viva Insights. With just one click, users can send a chat message with confidence knowing that the message can be delivered at the beginning of the recipient’s business hours.
This functionality is not available at the moment, but it is expected to start working in January 2023.
Work hours and location
With the new configuration and work functionality we can inform our colleagues if we are remote, in the office or directly disconnected.
This new feature will be available at the beginning of the year 2023 in all tenants.
